Idoma International Carnival

The Idoma International Carnival, formerly known as the Agila Social and Economic Carnival, is an annual event held in Otukpo, the ancestral home of the Idoma people. Established in 2013 by Prince Edwin Ochai, the carnival aims to showcase the rich social, cultural, and economic endowments of the Idoma nation. Highlights of the carnival include:

• Parades and Processions: Colorful street parades featuring participants adorned in traditional attire, showcasing the vibrant culture of the Idoma people.

• Masquerade Displays: Elaborate masquerades representing various deities and spirits perform, adding mystique and grandeur to the event.

• Music and Dance Performances: Local and international artists grace the stage, providing entertainment that ranges from traditional Idoma music to contemporary genres.

• Beauty Pageant: The “Face of Idoma” beauty pageant is a highlight, celebrating the beauty and intelligence of Idoma women.

The carnival serves as a platform for cultural expression, tourism promotion, and economic development in the region.
