Executives of the Association of Radio and Television Theatre and Art Workers Union (RATTAWU), National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) Chapter on Friday, November 13, 2020 honoured the Executive Secretary of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Mallam Muhammed Ado Yahuza with an Award of Excellence in appreciation of his immense contribution, support and selfless services throughout his stay with NCAC as Director, Human Resources Management.

Presenting the award in his office in Abuja, the leader of delegation and Chairperson of the Caretaker Committee of the Union, Mrs. Suleiman Elizabeth Omoh said that Mallam Ado Yahuza’s past record with the union speaks for itself.

Her Words “He is a father. Although we have had our ups and downs with him but he is always in support of the Union. The path to greatness is not always smooth that is why we have come to appreciate you today for all you did for us in the Council. We pray as we have gathered to honour you, this will not be last”. She therefore urged him to place priority on the issues of staff training, welfare and always put the interest of the union at heart.

Responding, Ado Yahuza expressed deep appreciation to the union for deeming it fit to honour him, saying their recognition of his hard work in NCAC is well appreciated.

His words: “For you to recognise me as a former colleague who has put his small efforts in the development of the NCAC and added value to the Council is indeed a thing of joy. I thank God for that and I also thank you for honouring me. I am a stickler to the rule when it comes to punctuality to work, that was why we always disagree to agree. The work of Human Resources is like police work when it comes to the issue of discipline. Part of our work is also to mentor the officers that will take over after us. If there is anything that is rewarding, it is working with people’’.

Yahuza therefore, enjoined the three Unions Association of Radio and Television Theatre and Art Workers Union of Nigeria National Council for Arts and Culture (RATTAWU) NCAC chapter, Association of Nigerian Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) NICO chapter  and Amalgamated of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), NICO chapter  present to be partners in progress and development, and  not to be confrontational but advisory in nature so that both the union and management can add value to their respective establishments.

According to him, the most important thing is to add value wherever one finds himself in any establishment because no Chief Executive can succeed in doing anything serious without involving the union.

The NICO helmsman intimated the unions that the payment of life insurance benefits of deceased staff from the Head of Service which he made sure in NCAC are being paid, the same process has commenced in the institute. Also the payment burial expenses of deceased staff which had accumulated in the institute before his assumption of office has started being paid.
