Pursuant to the quest to affiliate the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) Training School with the Nassarawa State University, Keffi, the Executive Secretary of the Institute, Dr. Barclays F. Ayakoroma, has officially made a formal request to that effect.

In a letter dated 1st March, 2011, with file No. NICO/ADM/989/VOL.1/09 and addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Dr. Ayakoroma stated that the request to affiliate the Institute’s training school programmes to the University, is for the purpose of joint training of/and award of certificates to the Institute’s trainees in the Diploma and Post Graduate Diploma Courses in Cultural Administration which the NICO training school in Lagos is offering.

Furthermore, the NICO boss said, the request to affiliate with the University is informed by the fact that Nasarawa State University, Keffi, is the only University in Nigeria currently offering a degree programme in Theatre and Cultural Studies, a course which is very relevant and strategic to the mandate of NICO. He noted also that the positive developments recorded by the department of Theatre and Cultural Studies in the University, due to its purposeful and well-focused leadership, has further impressed NICO’s Management, hence the request.

NICO’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Ayakoroma, therefore prayed the Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, to favourably consider and approve the request for the affiliation, which he hoped will be of mutual benefit to both parties.
