As the 4th African Arts & Crafts Expo (AFAC) kicks off in full swing, the Executive Secretary of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, will feature as Guest of Honour at the workshop on promotion of crafts and job creation, the intellectual forum of the Expo.

The Executive Director of National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Mr. M. M. Maidugu, who signed the letter of invitation, stated that the workshop is designed to stimulate creative and intellectual discourse on culture.

The statement noted that the topics for discussions are “Promoting Crafts for Economic Transformation: The Nigerian Experience,” and “Job Creation: Opportunities within the Art and Crafts Sector of the Nigerian Economy.”

Due to the importance of discussion, the relevance of NICO boss in the workshop, and the synergy NCAC enjoys with NICO, the Council requested Dr. Ayakoroma to extend the invitation to NICO staff, adding: “In view of this, it is my pleasure to humbly invite you to serve as a the Guest of Honour at the forum designed to provide and stimulate creative and intellectual discourse with a view to impacting the requisite knowledge on the potentials of the Crafts Industry.”

The theme of the workshop, which holds on Monday, 23rd May, 2011, at the National Press Centre, Radio House, Area 10, Garki, Abuja at 10.00am, is “Promoting the Crafts Industry for Economic Transformation.”
