The Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, has said that because he knows the height he wants NICO to climb, he is investing his time with God to achieve it.
Ministering on the topic, “Understanding the Times,” in the NICO Praise fellowship, Dr. Ayakoroma stated that he is aware that God never abandons anybody who devotes and invests his time in Him.
He told members of staff of NICO at the fellowship that as an Institute, he wants to reposition NICO in such a way that the staff can compare favourably with those of any department in Nigerian Universities.
The ES added that his target is that the apex cultural Institute will soar high in cultural education in Nigeria to the extent that before any cultural worker in the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation and its parastatals and agencies is promoted the position of a director, part of the qualification must be that he had passed through the Institute.
He said for him to achieve this, he is aware that he must devote his time to God, even as he must understand the times.
Similarly, calling on NICO workers to be close to God and make use of their time very well, the ES used the Book of 1 Chronicles 12: 32 to draw his point nearer home. The portion in the Bible reads: “And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.’’
With this, he explained that: “You can see that this portion in the Bible is striking. These men from the tribe of Issachar understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take. It is the same way each and every one of you will rise if you understand the time and use it well. God will never abandon you. As for me, I know where I want NICO to go and because I understand the times, I invest it with God as well as use it well. So long as I am concerned, NICO must get to the great height.’’
The coordinating pastor, Herbert Ogbeh, called on the staff to pray for the ES, so that God will continue to guide him on the right track and the right times to achieve his target for NICO, especially when he has embraced God. He cited Ecclesiastes 3: 1, “To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven,’’ and prayed God that He materializes this time as the right time for His servant, Dr. Ayakoroma, will achieve his aim for NICO.’’
