The place of manpower development as a necessary tool for the strategic growth of the culture sector, has been emphasized.
The Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, stated this during his memo presentation at the Techinical Session of the 8th National Council on Tourism, Culture and National Orientation meeting, taking place in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The ES said State Ministries and other Stakeholders in the Culture and Tourism sector should take advantage of NICO’s training programmes, namely, the diploma and post graduate programmes and the newly redesigned “National Workshop on Repositioning Cultural Workers for Improved Productivity,” which are veritable platforms for staff development.
The presentation by the ES, which was very refreshing, was commended by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Mrs. Ibukun Odusote, who presided, and also emphasized the need for Council members to prepare and present quality memos.
The Technical Session, which lined up about thirty five (35) memos for presentation, continues on Thursday, August 23, 2012.
