Ilorin, the capital city of Kwara State, has started bubbling, as participants continue to arrive for this year’s National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST 2012), popularly called, Unity Forum, an event being hosted by Kwara State, “the state of harmony.”
Organised by the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), since 1970, the festival has since become a melting pot for artistic and cultural promotion by all the 36 states of the federation and Abuja-FCT.
According to the Executive Director of National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Mr. Malgwi Mwajim Maidugu, the festival takes place from the 13th to 20th of October, 2012, with the theme, “Culture, Peace and National Economic Empowerment,” adding that the official opening ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at noon.
The Honourable Minister for Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, High Chief Edem Duke, is expected to be the Chief Host in an event that promises to showcase the culture-friendly disposition of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed.
