The Dean, Faculty of Arts, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka, Anambra State, Professor Alex Asigbo, has stated that the Faculty is ready to collaborate with National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) in organising programmes.

altProfessor Asigbo, making this known in a letter of appreciation to the Executive Secretary, Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, who had earlier sent a congratulatory message to him on his election as Dean, assured that NICO will be notified as soon as the Faculty was prepared.

Professor Asigbo, who is the Financial Secretary of the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA), said he would notify the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Boniface Egboka, of the congratulatory letter, disclosing that he received it with greatest humility and thanks.

The letter of appreciation read in part: “Your letter congratulating me on my election as Dean, Faculty of Arts, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, was received with the greatest humility and thanks. As someone who passed through your tutelage, it is indeed gratifying and humbling to receive such encomiums from you. Let me assure you that I will do my best to ensure that I do not fail you.”

Continuing, Dean Asigbo said: “I do however, look forward to collaborating with your Institute in different Faculty projects. We shall inform you of such in due course. I shall bring your letter to the attention of my Vice Chancellor, Prof. Boniface Egboka.”

It will be recalled that the ES, in his congratulatory letter, had described Professor Asigbo’s election, just as his promotion to the enviable rank of a professor of Theatre Arts, as very well deserved, noting that Asigbo has had impeccable track record in public service and the educational sector.

Dr. Ayakoroma, who taught Asigbo in the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Port Harcourt, added that he had studied the Dean from his formative years, as an undergraduate, hence, he (Ayakoroma) had implicit confidence in his ability to perform creditably on assumption of office, bringing his wealth of experience to bear in revitalizing the engine room of the Faculty of Arts in Great UNIZIK.
