Activities lined up for Abuja Carnival 2013, will gain momentum, Sunday, 24th November, 2013, with the Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma billed to present the Welcome Address at the Cultural Night taking place at the Old Parade Ground by 7.00pm.
The impressive opening ceremony of the 2013 edition of the Abuja Carnival, with the theme, A People for a Century: A People Forever, was graced by the Minister of Arts and Multiculturalism, Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Lincoln Douglas, as the Special Guest of Honour.
Other events billed for the carnival include, Experience Nigeria Art Show at NICON Luxury, Polo Tournament at the Polo Club, Masquerade Display and Durbar at the Eagle Square, Children’s Fiesta at the Millennium Park (involving children from the states), Food Fair/Bush Bar and Traditional Hairdo at Old Parade Ground, Boat Regatta at Jabi Lake, and Command Performance featuring participating foreign troupes and selected cultural groups from the states at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.
The carnival is also expected to feature Contemporary Musical Fiesta at the old Parade Ground by 7.00 pm daily, while the Street Carnival from Ahmadu Bello Way to Eagle Square on Tuesday, 26th November from 10.00am-5.00pm will mark the closing.
The foreign countries, China, Egypt, Namibia, Trinidad & Tobago, and Zimbabwe participated at the opening ceremony.
