As a mark of its being at the forefront of developing cultural festivals across the globe, the Chinese government has proved her commitment to sustaining this development by hosting the International Cooperation Seminar on International Art Festival in Lanzhou, China.
In his opening remarks, the Deputy Mayor of Lanzhou Municipal people government, Mr. Cao Piyu welcomed the participants to the epoch making festival seminar in a city surrounded by a great river, called, YELLOW RIVER, saying: “This seminar is being organized by the Chinese government for the participants to learn the culture of China.”
Piyu disclosed that Lanzhou has traditional and modern culture and advised the participants to carefully utilize the opportunity to get better understanding of the Chinese people and the culture.
In an address by the Vice President of Central Academy of Cultural Administration (CACA), Beijing, Mr. Duan Zhouwu, the paper presentations from different countries was informed by the need for is the participants to share cultural festival experiences from the respective countries.
In the paper presentation, all the participating countries presented their own papers on diverse festivals in their countries in which Mrs. Jane Anigala, who led the team from Nigeria highlighted the various festivals in Nigeria to the audience, where she grouped the festivals into three, namely, Indigenous festivals, State festivals and National festivals.
She then called on the Chinese government for collaboration with Nigeria in developing and sustaining their various festivals, saying: “We call on you for collaboration in our diverse cultural festivals to harness them for socio-economic development;” just as she urged participants from all the 18 countries taking part in the seminar to come to Nigeria and have a good taste of the abundant, rich cultural festivals.
