It is another breakthrough for National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) as two of its staffers are among others nominated from selected establishments in Nigeria attending customised training programmes organised and sponsored by the Indian Government.

Speaking to the officers, Eni Vincent Eni, a Cultural Officer I of the Research and Documentation Department and Udoka Ezeribe, a Senior Cultural Officer in NICO Lagos Liaison Office, the Executive Secretary, Assoc. Prof. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, advised them to be exemplary ambassadors of the Institute, so that others can equally benefit from such other linkage programmes.

Prof. Ayakoroma said in the face of the current dwindling annual budgetary provisions, Management will always factor into such staff development platforms to continuously expose staffers to contemporary trends in the culture sector and that such programmes were critical to promoting the performance of the sector.

He recalled that the three seminars organised by the Chinese Government last year in which nine officers of the Institute attended appear to have opened the doors for more international linkage programmes.

Responding, Eni Vincent Eni recalled that when the Special Assistant to the ES, Mr. Law Ezeh informed members of staff about the programme and advised interested persons to go online to fill the form, many officers were sceptical; but that he was among the few that believed in the authenticity of the linkage and went quickly for it.

Eni, who gave thanks to God for the unique opportunity, prayed that others should equally benefit from similar programmes, expressing his heartfelt appreciation to the ES, Prof. Ayakoroma for providing the platform for the linkage programme, and assuring that they will not let the Management of NICO down.

With the arrangement, Eni Vincent Eni will be at the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, Noida, India for a training programme in “Innovative Leadership for Organisational Growth and Excellence,” while Udoka Ezeribe will be proceeding to the National Institute for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, Hyderabad, India, for an “Indian Technical and Co-operation Programme;” and both training programmes will take place from 25th January to 18th March, 2015.
