Students of the Post Graduate Diploma in Cultural Administration (PGDCA) of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Abuja Study Centre, were on Monday, 22nd February, 2016 advised to take their work more seriously and make proper use of citations and paragraphs in their academic works to pass any academic scrutiny.

This statement was made by the Executive Secretary/CEO of NICO, Assoc. Prof. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, who is also a visiting lecturer at the Department of Theatre and Cultural Studies, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK).

The ES said this during the Seminar on Cultural Diplomacy/Defence of Project topics for the 2014/2015 Academic Session for students, who could not present their works last year due to some unavoidable reasons.

Two papers presented for the Seminar on Cultural Diplomacy were from Blessing Irabor, who spoke on “Television: A Veritable Means for Cultural Diffusion;” while second paper presented by Emuobonviesa Nabofa centred on, “ECOWAS and Cultural Diplomacy: Working towards a Common Purpose.”

Also, four others successfully defended their projects, namely, Nshokibe Ojie on the topic, “Repackaging Nigerian Cultural Festivals for Tourism Promotion: A Study of Bakor New Yam Festival of the Nkum People of Cross River State;” Bernard Preye Ayakoroma on the topic, “The Culture of Fair Hearing in Disciplinary Matters: A Case Study of the Public Service;” Abdulmalik Salihu presented the third project work, entitled, “Tourism Potentials in Slave Trade Relics: A Case Study of Badagry LGA, Lagos State;” and the last project work by Jane Nkem Anigala was entitled, “The Portrayal of Nigerian Traditional Medicine in Nigerian Movies: A Case Study of Doctor Bello.”
