The Academic Board of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) Training School, Abuja Study Centre, chaired by the Institute’s Executive Secretary/CEO, Assoc. Prof. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, on Monday, 19th September, 2016, approved the 1st Semester Results for the 2015/2016 Academic Session.

The approval was given by the Executive Secretary after the results of the Advanced Diploma in Cultural Administration (ADCA) and the Post Graduate Diploma in Cultural Administration (PGDCA) programmes were presented by the Coordinator, Dr. (Mrs.) Regina Onuoha, and deliberated upon by the Board.

Earlier, in his opening address, Prof. Ayakoroma intimated Board that the results were supposed to have been considered and approved about a month earlier so that students have seen their performances on resumption, informing that the Lagos Study Centre had since met and approved its results, and explaining that the delay was partly due to the inability of some lecturers to submit their results on time, promising that the situation will be averted in the future.

The Executive Secretary also enjoined lecturers to be very meticulous in their marking, advising also that there has to be consistency in the style adopted in making entries in the Result Sheets, and that the Exams and Records Unit should prepare Students Individual Broad Sheets for the results, which would serve as their Transcripts, whenever the need arises.

In her contribution, the Coordinator of NICO Training School, Abuja Study Centre, Dr. (Mrs.) Regina Onuoha, used the opportunity to plead with the Executive Secretary to consider paying honorarium for books and research materials to Academic Staff of the Training School who are NICO staffers, in order to enhance their teaching.

On a final note, Prof. Ayakoroma encouraged the NICO Academic Staff in Training School to identify with their professional bodies, attend workshops and present papers, as this will help improve their abilities, adding that there was also need to ensure that the Training School registered more external participants in the next academic session, as this will help boost the programme as seen in the current 2015/2016 academic session.

Present at the Academic Board meeting were the Executive Secretary/CEO, NICO, Assoc. Prof. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma; Director, Orientation & Cultural Affairs, Mr. Alex Omijie; the SA to the ES, Mr. Law Ikay Ezeh; the Coordinator, NTS Abuja Study Centre, Dr. (Mrs.) Regina Onuoha; Head, Cultural Affairs Unit, Mr. Segun Adegbaju; Head, Finance and Accounts, Mr. Ogbe Herbert; Head, Documentation Unit, Mrs. Maria Okpuzor; and all Academic Staff of NTS, Study Centre.
