Come Wednesday, 9th May through Thursday, 12th May, 2017, the Bayelsa State Government will be hosting the 47th edition of the Chief Executives of Culture (CEC) of the Federation in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
In a letter of invitation addressed to the Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Assoc. Prof. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, signed by the newly appointed Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, the meeting, which is the first phase of the biannual meeting of CEC, will among other things, review the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST 2016); consider memos and briefs on the Administration of Culture in Nigeria; and the proposed syllabus for the NAFEST 2017.
The meeting, fondly referred to as, “the elders of the tribe”, is also expected to receive briefs from various Federal Cultural Parastatals as well as culture and tourism MDAs from all the states of the federation.
Members of the Chief Executives of Culture are also scheduled to officially pay a courtesy call on the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Hon. Seriake Dickson.
The Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Prof. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, is expected to attend the meeting personally.
