The Acting Executive Secretary, National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Mr. Louis Eriomala will on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 appear before the Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism to defend the Institute’s 2018 budget.

In a letter dated December 5, 2017, addressed to the Executive Secretary with the caption “Request for 2016 and 2017 Budget Performances, Financial Records and Other Activities” and signed on behalf of the Committee Chairman by the Clerk of the Committee, Mr. Abba Mohammed, the Acting ES is expected to furnish the Senate Committee with information on the 2016 and 2017 budget performances.

The letter reads in part “I am directed by the Senate Committee on Culture and Tourism to request you to furnish the Committee with information on the 2016 and 2017 budget performances in the tables attached…..Your Organization is scheduled to appear before the Committee for 2018 Budget Defence on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 by 10am in the Senate Committee Room 117 (Senate Building, New Wing)”.

According to the letter, it is in compliance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic and the Senate Standing Orders, that the Senate directed all its Standing Committees to ensure compliance in the implementations of the 2016 and 2017 Appropriation Acts by MDA’s, ahead of the 2018 budget defence.

Recall that Mr. Eriomala officially took over leadership in NICO on November 30, 2017 when he was appointed by the Honourable Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed as Acting Executive Secretary.

He took over the baton of leadership as the most Senior Director in the Institute, following the successful completion of two times tenure by the immediate past Executive Secretary, Assoc. Prof. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, who is with the Department of Theatre and Cultural Studies, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK).
