The National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture is set to conduct the 2018 promotion examination for members of staff who are due for promotion from one level to another in line with extant civil service rules.

Scheduled for Saturday, 23rd June, 2018, the NICO Promotion Examination exercise is expected to hold concurrently in seven (7) centres across the country including Lagos, Akure, Bayelsa, Ilorin, Owerri and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with a total number of 201candidates participating.

According to NICO’s Director of Administration & Human Resources, Alhaji Ibrahim Husseini, the promotion examination will be administered to shortlisted candidates from Abuja and Minna State offices at the Institute’s Head office, located at No. 23, Kigoma Street, Wuse Zone 7, Abuja-FCT; while members of staff from the North-West and North-East Zonal offices of the Institute as well as Gombe State office will write the examination at Room 235, 2nd Floor, Federal Secretariat Complex, Adjacent INEC Office in Gombe State, the NICO Training School Campus, located at the National Theatre Annex, Iganmu, Lagos will be the centre for members of staff from the Lagos Training School, Liaison and Ibadan State Office staff.

Members of staff from the South-East Zonal Office and Enugu State offices are expected to write the examination at No. 9A, Works Road, Opposite Court of Appeal, Off Okigwe Road, Owerri, Imo State; while staff from the South-South Zonal office of the Institute will write the examination at No.51, Imgbi Road, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

For staff from the NICO North-Central Zonal Office, the exercise will hold at No. 2, Cemetery Road, Off Civil Service Drive Road, GRA, Ilorin, Kwara State, with staff from the South-West Zonal Office participating in the exercise at the former Mortgage Bank Building, Oke Eda, Akure, Ondo State.  

Although a total number of Two Hundred and Fifty Three (253) members of staff are qualified to participate in the 2018 promotion examination, only Two Hundred and One (201) candidates are shortlisted. The Fifty Two (52) others are exempted, following NICO’s tradition which stipulates that staff who successfully go through the Institute’s academic training programme be exempted from participating in the next promotion examination exercise but be promoted to the next grade level.
