The Academic Board of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO) Training School has given approval for the release of examination results for the Postgraduate Diploma and Advanced Diploma programmes in Cultural Administration in the Abuja Study Centre.

At a meeting held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Institute’s head office in Abuja and presided over by the Acting Executive Secretary of NICO, Mr. Louis Eriomala, the Board considered and approved the second semester examination results for the 2016/2017 academic session for the Postgraduate and Advanced Diploma programmes as well as the first semester results for the 2017/2018 academic session for the Advanced Diploma in Cultural Administration.

In his remark, the Acting ES disclosed that henceforth, certificates to be issued to Postgraduate Diploma students from the training school will in effect from 2018/2019 session be issued by the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), saying the University will also be responsible for reviewing examination questions for the training school.

Speaking further on the academic staff training and welfare, Eriomala informed that Management is working towards setting up a committee to look into training the academic cadre, stressing that as soon as funds are made available, some members of staff will be sent to the Nasawara State University, Keffi for further training for improved productivity.

On his part, Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, the representative from NSUK, charged academic staff of the training school to remain diligent in their work. He further encouraged them to strive towards attaining higher academic qualifications, saying it will not only prepare them for requisite skill and ability to train students in NICO but also give them added advantage to lecture with the   Nasarawa State University on part-time basis.

The Coordinator, Abuja Study Centre of NICO Training School, Dr. (Mrs.) Regina Onuoha, in her remark, informed that approval for the first semester result of the Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural Administration for the 2018/2019 will be done by NSUK.

Other members present at the Board meeting were the Director, Orientation and Cultural Affairs, Mr. Alex Omijie; the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Alhaji Ibrahim Hussaini; the Deputy Director, Research and Documentation, Mr. Michael Ekoko; the Special Adviser to the Acting Executive Secretary, Mr. Law Ezeh and the Head of Legal, Barrister Musa Kakamba.
