The National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture has concluded plans to organize a Public Lecture with the theme: “Imperial Cultural Illusions, Delusions and Hallucinations; Major Sources of Africa’s Contemporary Development Crises” on Thursday, 25th March, 2020 at the African First Ladies Peace Mission Secretariat Conference Hall, Central Business District, Abuja-FCT.
NICO has the statutory mandate of effecting a sense of cultural direction for national development and the Public Lecture series is one of its platforms that generate intellectual discourse on culture to sensitize Nigerians on the strategic importance of culture in the promotion and sustenance of good governance; effect a sense of cultural direction in the citizenry; better appreciate the need for Nigerians to embrace our culture, cherish its inherent values and accord it a pride of place in all aspects of our development agenda; and to explore the cultural dimension in every sphere of our national life.
Professor Sule Bello, a Professor of History at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has accepted to be the Guest Lecturer; the Honourable Minister of Information & Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed will attend the event as Special Guest of Honour while the Senate Committee Chairman on Culture and Tourism, Senator Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha will Chair the occasion. His Royal Highness, Alhaji Sumaila Mohammed, the Emir of Karshi is expected to grace the occasion as Royal Father of the Day.
