The Executive Secretary of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Dr. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, in the spirit of ‘Celebrating God’s Grace,’ which was the theme of the End of Year Thanksgiving of the Institute’s Christian fellowship, NICO Prays, held Friday, 5th of December, 2014 at its Head Office in Abuja, admonished members to always appreciate God in all circumstances, because in giving thanks to Him, there would be more reasons for them to praise and thank God.
In his testimony, Ayakoroma thanked God for the grace given to him to write a book this year, acknowledging that God has done great things for him as a person, his family, the members of NICO Prays and the Institute, saying for making it possible for the Institute to have completed all arrangements to kick-start its Abuja Study Centre of the Training School, come January 2015.
His words: “I want to say that this year has been glorious. NICO is standing tall; I am standing strong; my family is there very strong. And this year, God granted me the grace to come out with a book, Trends in Nollywood, which is making waves; and most importantly, the safety and protection granted to all who travelled (by road, on air, in the sea) for the public presentation of the book in Abuja and Lagos by God. I want to say God is faithful.”
Taking his Bible text from Psalm 136:1, which reads: “O give thanks unto the Lord for He is good, for His mercy endureth forever;” and also from I Corinthians 15:10, Pastor Michael Audu of the Garden of Light Ministry, Nyanya, Abuja, in his ministration, admonished that, there are so many reasons why members should give thanks to God, not because they have all the riches or properties but that with or without anything, they should give thanks because all they have and the way they are have been by the special grace of God.
Testimonies, drama sketch (on a quarrelsome Christian who received her eleventh hour miracle), thanksgiving and special ministrations in songs from NICO Choir and individuals spiced the programme of event.
In attendance were the President of Association of Bayelsa State Indigenes in Abuja (ABSIA), Mr. Solomon Ebielador Barry and his Welfare Officer, Mrs. Victoria Egberipou, Director, Finance & Accounts, Mr. Godson Ordu, his Orientation & Cultural Affairs counterpart, Mr. Alex Omijie, Assistant Director, Administration & Human Resources, Mrs. Jane Anigala, Coordinator of NICO Training School, Abuja Study Centre, Mrs. Regina Onuoha, as well as the Chaplain of NICO Prays, Pastor Herbert Ogbe, among others.
