The 2015 Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity opened Wednesday, 20th May 2015 at the Haevichi Hotel and Resorts in Jeju Island, Korea with a performance by Soprano Sumi-jo, the international Korean star.
The forum is recognised as one of the major international forums in Asia that brings together leaders around the world in Jeju, Island of World Peace, to exchange and discuss ideas on Asia’s peace and common prosperity.
The 2015 edition, which is with the theme: “Towards a New Asia of Trust and Harmony,” aims at accelerating the process of building a solid multinational cooperation mechanism for Asia, and covers areas such as, International Cooperation and Security, Business and Economy, Climate change and Environment Equality, Education and Culture Global.
A special session by East Asia Forum and other sessions were later held, while the day’s programme came to an end with a welcome dinner hosted by the Korean Foreign Affairs Minister, Yun Byung-se.
In attendance were a former President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Chairman, East Asia Foundation, Gong Ro-myang, institutions and organizations from East Asia and other nations.
