The Executive Secretary/CEO of National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Associate Professor Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, on Monday, 24th October, 2016, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, at the Governors’ Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.
The aim of the visit was to intimate the Governor on the Institute’s forth-coming Quarterly Public Lecture in Abuja, on the theme, “Promoting Culture, Developing the Economy: A Nigerian Perspective”, which the Imo State governor had graciously accepted be the Guest Speaker.
Doing a PowerPoint presentation on NICO, Prof. Ayakoroma ended with a request for His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to assist the Institute with Live TV coverage, support with some fund, and invite other State Governors to attend the programme.
In his response, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, affirmed his acceptance to deliver the Public Lecture, saying there is a correlation between culture and national development, and that what NICO is doing needs to be encouraged.
He also graciously agreed to sponsor a live broadcast of the programme, preferably on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Africa’s largest television network, and also to invite other State Governors to key into the public lecture series of the Institute.
The ES, who was accompanied by Mr. Alex Omijie (Director, Orientation and Cultural Affairs), Mr. Law Ikay Ezeh Jr. (Deputy Director/SA-ES) and Dr. Regina Onuoha (Coordinator, NICO Training School, Abuja Study Centre), also presented a set of his published plays to Governor Rochas Okorocha.
